Not wanting to leave anyone’s blog out, let’s pick up where we left off earlier. We come to the R’s:

Ramdalel’s one-and-only post is short and to the point: No glory but honesty. He has more on the page about his party, but in Indonesian.

Rick’s latest post is simply a series of links to his presence on various social networking and content sharing sites. Very appropriate to our last session on Networking.

Seppi’s latest post is about meeting interesting people from all over the world.

Sokunthea writes and provides some great photos about her visit to Germany in her first post.

Straight Talk, Khoo Kay Peng’s blog, is a long standing blog. His latest post is Hundu Rights Action Force leaders being detained under the Internal Security Act in Malaysia.

Taieb wrote yesterday about our visit to Dresden and Erfurt.

Toni’s latest post is a demonstration of html formatting, but his previous post asks (and answers) the question, “Are video gamers really violent?”

Last, but certainly not least, is Venellin’s blog. His latest post offers a couple of photos – from Bulgaria, I think?

Continuing on from the previous posting, we now provide you with reviews of blogs from L to O.

Lilia: Her blog is titled ‘liberals from Prague to Moscow’ and deals primarily with political issues and aims at spreading word on the Naumann Foundation’s work in the region (26 countries of the Eastern Europe and the Caucasus)

Marissa: An interesting blog… this details out all the friends she has visited through her travels across the world. Particularly good is her detailed narrative on Cologne and the Cathedral.

May: The true idealist…. May comes out with the traditional fight against corruption! Information on the blog only proves her dedication towards humanity.

Mohammed: A wonderful page layout and detailing all the fascinating news of the world from a Zanzibari perspective! His blog is in both english and national language (kiswahili). He has titled it “Zanzibar Daima, Jana, Leo na Kesho” (meaning Zanzibar Forever….Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow)

Mori: He is certainly the master of digital editing …and this is clearly reflected in his images and video upload (Remember the Mac vs Windows video?). He also has a link to Flickr with pictures of the team in Dresden.

Nasir: A simple blog to begin with, but we will surely see more when he gets back home!

Ozcan: The true party man, this blog is dedicated to the Liberal Democratic Party in Turkey and detailing the concepts of Liberalism. He also gives us a detailed view on the Turkish government, economy and history.

One of the advantages of the SEO exercise on Wednesday afternoon is that we now have a complete blogroll. It has been separated into Moderators, organisations, participants and community.

So what are people blogging about?

We’ve had a look at some of our blogs over the last week, but let’s have a look at a few more, and get an update from everyone…

AbdAllah’s is in arabic; so, for those of us who don’t read it, we’ll have to ask him.

Despite her protestations that she doesn’t enjoy writing a blog, Amira has posted a great article about the History of Ben Ezra on her blog.

Anthony wrote about the SEO exercise yesterday as a means of implementing it. He also posted about New Media in the Free State of Saxony.

Bladimir’s blog is in Spanish, but his latest post a YouTube video created from his photographs. A picture speaks a thousand words, and this post has many pictures.

Fortune has written a brief introductory post. We look forward to reading more once he returns to Ghana.

Fungisai asserts in her latest post that President Mbeki has done enough for Zimbabwe, and it is up to the Zimbabwean people to make it work now.

Joaquin also posts in Spanish, but using Freetranslation.com, I can establish that he has written in his latest post simply that Abe Olandres is offering a seminar about new media communication in Germany. (Actually it translates as “Abe Olandres this offering the seminar of new media of comunicacion in Germany.” But it’s enough to get the idea)

We saw Kali’s latest post this week. It is the humorous video post about misunderstanding people who speak other languages.

Finally, we bring you the IAF Silent Movie 2007 created by May, Sokunthea, Fortune, Taieb and myself.

Using a silent movie to promote new media in the internet was no easy task, but we belive it paid off.

Now many of us have heard of ways to become celebrities…acting in a movie…becoming a famous singer, but have you heard of becoming a net celebrity? Well, Abe and Gulmina will most likely be leading us through a session that would make us all probably the Brad Pitts and Angelina Jolies of the net world!?

Now what do we use this opportunity for!? We can champion for causes or simply even become great magnets attracting an extensive number of date requests! Well up to one’s discretion. So…………. what will you do with your new found celebrity status?

Okay, some of us have done podcasting before (some even doing so in another assignment earlier in the seminar); but, for most of us, it was a new experience.

After a brief introduction by Abe to Audacity’s sound production software – along with Windows Movie Maker for very basic video production – it was once again time to break into project groups to produce either video or audio podcasts.Two teams chose video, while three chose audio.

Video

The video teams both chose to focus on aspects of the academy. This makes sense, since it provided the backdrop for their visuals. However, they had markedly different approaches.

Toni’s team did an amazing job creating a very funny silent movie about the frustrations of getting all the assignments done for the seminar – very appropriate, considering the technical difficulties they faced to get the video finished.

Khoo’s team presented a tour of the academy, including some lesser known nooks and crannies. They created some great atmosphere with the soundtrack, including a chapter known as “007″.

Audio

Interestingly, two of the audio teams – free of the constraints of their visual surroundings – also chose similar themes, sharing something about their members’ countries.

Joachim unfortunately had to leave on Thursday evening, but he managed to lay down the tracks in which he featured before handing over the baton. His team decided to take a light-hearted look at visiting members’ countries, focussing on some of the idiosynchrocies. Each team member wrote the script for his/her country.

Mohamed’s team also used a bit of humour, but tackled more serious topics – focussing some attention on the politics of the team members’ countries.

The most sensible team – with the best grasp of time management – was AbdAllah’s team. They made a 1.5 minute podcast of a crazy DJ playing inappropriate music. They were the only team that didn’t have to work late into the night to finish the assignment.
